You need a mentor to teach you the ropes!

If you’ve been online for a while and feel stuck, if you want to take your existing online business to the next level, or even if you’re a total newbie, then a good mentor is what you need. I was really stuck and working so hard to build my business and make money online. The result was I ended up exhausted, confused, and surrounded by tons of papers with “opportunities” claiming to make me “rich“.

Well, that’s not going to happen, you won’t get rich. But you can make a living online and you can certainly make a lot of money. That’s up to you though, depending on how much work your willing to do to make it happen. Yes, making money online does involve work! Having a mentor can get you past the learning curve though and help you get there much faster. Having a mentor put me in the right direction so I could finally stop going in circles.

In November of 2008 I became one of Alex Jeffrey’s coaching students and it’s changed my life! I had been online for quite a while and hadn’t gotten anywhere, except lost in “information overload”. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about.

10 Tips to Better Marketing – Three; Time To Re-Evaluate Your Market Niche

There are offline businesses going into bankruptcy everywhere. In a time of prosperity, people rush to buy the latest electronic gadget or to get the latest bath accessories, one for each change of the season. So, your market niche may have done well when the economy was doing well, but now you’ve noticed a down tick in purchases. What’s going on? That’s not really surprising considering that the psychology of the market place has changed dramatically and that the consumer may not be in a buying mood for a while. Before the recession, status was a great psychological trigger to use to create a buying opportunity. The same trigger is somewhat meaningless in a downturn unless you are marketing to the very rich. The biggest strategy for the downturn is going to be value offers; you need to make sure that many of your strategies reflect a trigger for value.

The immediate impulse of business owners in a downturn is to stop throwing money at advertising since there are fewer buyers. This is a mistake and can be a self-fulfilling prophecy for poor sales later on. So, if you haven’t evaluated your advertising campaign, you need to do that now. Look at where you are advertising, what psychological triggers and sales strategies you are using, and whether you can provide value offers that put you ahead of the competition during this tough economy.

Chris Anderson, author of “The Long Tail,” hypothesizes that even though classic marketing assumes that 80% of sales come from 20% of your customers, chasing “the long tail” of customers not in that 20% can be a viable online strategy. That’s because online businesses are great at providing choice, something that physical brick-and-mortar stores can’t stock or inventory the same way since they are not virtual enterprises. But, is chasing the long tail still a good strategy in a recession where consumer demand is dropping drastically?

Why The Long Tail Creates Demand

 

Yes, it is a good idea to think about chasing the long tail. The reasons for that are two-fold: Physical retailers are already reducing inventory and dropping choices and online retailers don’t have to stock or inventory a selection or choice in order to offer it. So, the same reason that makes it unthinkable for physical retailers makes it a great choice for online merchants. After all, demand may be slowing for the best sellers, but the long tail is not about best sellers; it’s about personal preference. When a consumer has a personal preference for a particular product or service, they will look to get that choice fulfilled regardless of the cost, even in a down economy. And, even if a retailer offers this choice in their physical stores, an online business is better suited to drop the price on it because they are not keeping their stock in physical inventory. If you line up a great team of suppliers who you can use to create a vast choice, then you will create demand where there was none because you are offering something in one place that few others are able to do offline. This is something that I’ve been meaning to share with you since right before Christmas, but I’ve been so busy learning about traffic, video marketing, etc., that I kept forgetting to post about this very interesting eBook..

I purchased “Emergency Cash Generators” by James Jones at the beginning of November 2008. He has written an amazing eBook on approximately 100 different ways you can make extra money online and offline. James Jones actually comes up with ideas for making emergency cash and then tests them out himself to make sure they are viable ways to make fast cash.

I personally tried one of his ideas and actually made a little money. I needed some extra cash for Christmas so I tried #72 in James Jones‘ eBook, which is “Letters from Santa”. My grandson had just started back at daycare right before Christmas, so I started a little late with this idea. I actually made $70.00! I donated $1.00 per letter to the daycare, so I ended up with $60.00 cash – fast! I was very excited that this worked for me, and I had meant to post about it right away and many times since. Granted this idea has been around for a while, but I would never had thought about it on my own with being so busy at the time. Plus I also liked the idea of donating some money to the daycare.

Some of the ideas in “Emergency Cash Generators” can actually provide you with a part-time income, and some can even provide you with a full-time income. A couple of the ideas are a little far-fetched, but for the most part James Jones‘ provides some very creative and lucrative ways to make fast cash.

Also, if you have a teenager there are lots of great ideas in “Emergency Cash Generator” that teens can do make some quick cash.

I personally prefer the ideas to make money online as opposed to offline. It’s easier for me since my grandson only goes to daycare twice a week. Of course you can become an affiliate and sell “Emergency Cash Generators” for a commission, plus there are many other creative ideas in the eBook for making money online.

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to share one of John Reese’s recent posts with you. It’s about Incremental Success. John talks about how, in order to achieve what you want you need to do it in increments, it’s not something that’s going to happen overnight! He also gives some great examples of situations that incremental success would apply to.

A lot of us procrastinate when it’s time for us to do an important task for our business that could help us make money. John explains that this is because it’s so easy to “put things off until tomorrow”. When we put things off until tomorrow we don’t get as much accomplished towards our goals as we could have. We learned in Alex Jeffreys Coaching Progam that we need to accomplish something “productive” towards building our business, even if it’s something small. Incremental success is basically the same concept and can also be applied to many other areas of our lives.

So, my New Year Resolution this year is to do something productive every day towards building my business and also apply this other areas of my life

Wow, I must really be behind on a few things! I just read Alex Jeffreys most recent post (which he posted before Christmas) and was absolutely amazed that he actually DOUBLED his income goal for 2008! How amazing is that!? Alex should be very proud of everything he’s accomplished!

I have heard the statement “The Money is in the List” countless times over the past year. So, is it true? Is the money REALLY in “the list”? The answer is YES! Your list is where the money is!

Don’t overlook building your list, this is a BIG mistake! I don’t have a list. Why did I overlook building a list? I think it was because I really wasn’t sure HOW to go about building a list, so it seemed a little scary. Also, I have read conflicting information, such as “make money without having a list”, etc.. I have often thought of building a list, but it didn’t seem like it mattered much one way or the other. I didn’t realize the importance and the value of building a list for my business. I can’t believe how much time I’ve lost because I don’t have a list!

Well, now I realize the importance of building a list if I want to have a successful business. As far as being afraid of building a list, what the heck is there to be afraid of ? (I mean, really, it’s a LIST, how scary could it possibly be?!) If I mess it up I can just try again, right?

Most importantly, I now know I need to “take action” and start building my list right away, so that my business can grow!

So, once again….”The Money IS in the list!”
